Our journey begins at Vijayanagaram Ghat, where Swami Karpatri Ji, known as the saint who lived with empty hands, delivered discourses and authored profound works on Vedic philosophy. His presence here preserved the unbroken chain of orthodox learning in Kashi.

We walk to Satya Lok, home of Lahiri Mahashay, the householder yogi who revived Kriya Yoga in the modern era. Balancing the duties of family life with the highest yogic attainments, he became a living example that spiritual realization is not limited to renunciates.

At Sumeru Math, we connect with the legacy of Adi Shankaracharya, the 8th-century philosopher from Kerala who consolidated Advaita Vedanta and established Kashi as a centre of learning. Here, we pause for a short walk through the old city lanes to experience the timeless scholarly atmosphere of his influence. According to tradition, it was here that he composed devotional stotrams like the Manisha Panchakam after being humbled at Panchganga Ghat by an enlightened Chandala. His deep devotion to Kashi Vishwanath continues to echo in verses like Vishwanathashtakam, celebrating the city not just as a seat of learning, but as a living embodiment of liberation.

We then visit Gopal Mandir, associated with Vallabhacharya, founder of the Pushti Marg tradition. His Path of Grace elevated Krishna worship into a deeply intimate and joyous devotion, which still thrives in Banaras.

At Panchganga Ghat, we step into the math of Trailanga Swami , the 19th-century Shaiva mystic whose yogic feats and longevity made him a legend. Known as “The Living Shiva,” his quiet presence blessed generations of seekers.

Just steps away is the monastery of Ramanand Swami, the bhakti reformer who opened spiritual practice to all, breaking caste barriers. His disciples - most famously Kabir - transformed the spiritual landscape of North India.

We visit Chaitanya Wath, where the Bengal saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu stayed during his visit to Kashi. His ecstatic devotion and public sankirtana softened the rigid scholasticism of the time, leaving a lasting legacy of joy and inclusivity in worship.

Next, we visit Gurubagh Gurudwara, another significant Sikh shrine in Varanasi, reflecting the enduring legacy of Guru Nanak’s teachings. This peaceful site continues to foster community spirit through prayer and langar, welcoming visitors from all walks of life.

Our trail then leads to Ravidas Janam Sthali, the birthplace of the revered 15th-century saint Ravidas, whose teachings on equality, social justice, and devotion deeply influenced Bhakti movements across India. The site stands as a symbol of hope and spiritual liberation for millions.
