बेनी माधव मंदिर के बारे में
In Kashi, devotion often hides in plain sight — behind modest doorways, down narrow lanes where the city breathes its oldest prayers. Beni Madhav Temple is one such hidden jewel, where faith glows quietly amid stone and shadow.
Located near Scindia Ghat, Beni Madhav Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Beni Madhav — ‘the Lord of the Beni,’ referring to the bends of the Ganga that gently curve through Kashi. While many temples in the city proclaim towering spires, Beni Madhav Temple remains humble, its sanctum cool and shadowed, a place where locals come to pour out soft prayers rather than grand petitions.
Historical records and local lore suggest the temple’s origins stretch back several centuries. It’s believed to be connected to a tradition where five significant Beni Madhav temples once
dotted Kashi’s sacred geography, each marking an important spiritual point along the river. The temple near Scindia Ghat, though small, has remained an enduring site of worship, even as riverbanks shifted and structures weathered time.
Inside, the idol of Beni Madhav stands serene, adorned in silks and fragrant garlands. Priests chant Vishnu Sahasranama, filling the small chamber with gentle echoes. Devotees offer
tulsi leaves and light small oil lamps, seeking protection, harmony, and the quiet blessings Vishnu bestows.
The temple also becomes a hub during festivals like Kartik Purnima, when pilgrims drift through the lanes carrying lamps, their flickering lights mirrored on the river’s dark surface
