गोला घाट के बारे में
Gola Ghat does not rise with spires or echo with rituals. It is a working ghat — one where the sacred flows side by side with the ordinary. Named after the word ‘Gola’, meaning a granary or storehouse, this was once a hub of commerce — where grains were weighed, traded, and ferried across the Ganga’s curve. This market was established by the Marwari business community in the mid-19th century.
The ghat carries the scent of jute sacks, wet stone, and the sweat of generations who made a living here — loading, unloading, and offering quick prayers before starting their day. Even now, in the early hours, boats dock here not with pilgrims, but with goods and goodsmen, the pulse of the city’s unseen economy.
