हनुमान और पुराना हनुमान घाट के बारे में
Both the Hanuman Ghat & Old Hanuman Ghat were made pucca by Mahant Hariharanath in 1825. The Hanuman Ghat was earlier known as Rameshvara Ghat, after the famous image of Rameshvara lying there.
The temple of Rama consists of five Shiva lingams named after Rama, his two brothers, his wife, and his monkey-devotee Hanuman. This ghat had affinity with the 15th – 16th century Bhakti saint Vallabhacharya who resided on this ghat and laid the foundations for a great resurgence of devotion towards Krishna.
It is said that a gambler named Nand Das constructed the steps of this ghat from his one day’s earning.
A group of extremely prosperous ascetics have their akhada here, which is also called the Juna Akhada. The presence of the Juna Akhara, one of the oldest orders of ascetics, infuses the ghat with a warrior's discipline and a mystic’s solitude. Wrestlers train in mud pits nearby, echoing Hanuman’s own balance of physical strength and spiritual purity.
