जानकी घाट के बारे में
Janki Ghat, a tranquil gem along the Ganges in Varanasi, is a place where history and devotion quietly meet. Built in 1870 by Maharani Kunwar of Sursand, it was earlier known as Nagamber Ghat before being renamed in honor of Janaki or Goddess Sita, the consort of Lord Rama. The ghat was originally built by Rai Girdhara Lal and later purchased and developed by Rani Kunvar, who also installed a shrine with an image of Janki.
The ghat itself is modest, tucked gently between more bustling stretches, yet it carries a deep emotional resonance. It is said that this ghat was favoured by women saints and devotees, who saw in Sita’s story not just mythology, but a mirror — of sacrifice, resilience, and silent power.
Above the ghat, quiet temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva speak of its deep spiritual heritage. Though it may not attract large crowds, Janki Ghat holds a quiet rhythm of its own—morning rituals, soft chants, and the serene hush of reflection.
