Lal Ghat

लाल घाट

लाल घाट के बारे में

Lal Ghat was partially constructed by the Maharaja of Tijara of Rajasthan in the beginning of the 20th century and was later expanded by Raja Baldev Das, who built a residence on the ghat in 1935. The ghat is also notable for its association with the washerman community, who used to wash clothes on the unpaved northern section.

The Bhiva Spirila Sanskrit Vidyal, a school providing free education, food, and clothing, is located on the ghat's banks and is supported by the Berila Trust.

To sit at Lal Ghat is to understand that ghats in Varanasi can be significant for their history of royal patronage, religious importance, and connection to community life – all at once.
