महानिर्वाणी घाट के बारे में
Mahanirvani Ghat is not a place of spectacle — it is a place of withdrawal, of inner fire, of those who have renounced the world not in rebellion, but in stillness. Named after the Mahanirvani Akhara built in 1915, one of the most ancient and powerful Shaiva orders, this ghat belongs to the naga sadhus — fierce, ash-smeared ascetics who carry the weight of centuries-old vows on bare shoulders.
In the inner part of the Akhara, there are four shrines built by the King of Nepal. According to oral sources in the historical past, the mythic sage Kapila used to live here. Folk legends also tell that Buddha had taken bath once at this site.
You might see a sadhu meditating with eyes open but unseeing, or one standing motionless under the sun, unmoved. These are not performances. They are acts of dissolution — of slowly stepping out of the self, until only nirvana remains.
