मीर घाट के बारे में
Mir Ghat, in Varanasi is a significant ghat with both historical and religious importance. It was formerly known as Jarasandh Ghat and was built by Meer Rustam Ali in 1735. The ghat is also home to the Bishalakhshi Devi temple, a prominent temple with South Indian Dravidian architecture. In front of the ghat, there is a submerged site in the Ganges known as Jarasandh Teerth.
In fact, two old sites of the Jarasandhesvara temple and Vridhaditya were merged into this ghat by Mir Rustam Ali in 1735.
The legend of Jarasandha in Varanasi, specifically at the Jarasandheshwar temple, is linked to his defeat by Bhima in a wrestling match, orchestrated by Lord Krishna, during the Mahabharata. His defeat and subsequent death are significant events in the epic, and the Jarasandheshwar temple in Varanasi is believed to be a site where Jarasandha's soul found peace after his death.
