निषादराज घाट के बारे में
Nishadraj Ghat is named in honor of Nishadraj Guha, the humble boatman and forest chief from the Ramayana, whose unwavering friendship with Lord Rama has echoed across centuries. This ghat has a huge settlement of the Nishad community. Around 10,000 boatmen live in the neighbourhood.
Till the early 20th century, the Nishadraj Ghat was part of the Prabhu Ghat. But, dominance of the inhabitant boatmen and further opening of a temple in commemoration of the boatmen-king Nishada, resulted in it’s naming as such in the 1940s.
According to legend, it was a Nishadraj who ferried Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana across the River Ganga during their exile. Though born outside the elite folds of society, his devotion was so pure, his heart so true, that Rama embraced him not just as an ally, but as a brother in dharma. That moment — a royal prince and a boatman united by spirit — lives on in this quiet stretch of the Ganga
