रुद्राक्ष अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कन्वेंशन केंद्र के बारे में
The Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre (RICCC), popularly known as Rudraksh, is one of the most iconic and modern infrastructural landmarks of Varanasi, representing the city’s transformation into a global destination for cultural exchange, business meetings, and international cooperation. Conceived as a symbol of Indo-Japan friendship, the centre was developed with financial assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Japanese Grant Aid and was inaugurated on 15 July 2021 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Built over nearly 3 acres of land in Sigra, the heart of Varanasi, Rudraksh blends modern architectural excellence with the city’s deep spiritual identity. Its façade is adorned with 108 Rudraksh beads, while the roof is designed in the form of a Shiva Linga, symbolizing the eternal essence of Lord Shiva, the presiding deity of Kashi.
The convention centre is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, making it an ideal venue for MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). Its grand auditorium can accommodate around 1,200 people and can be divided into two halls as per the scale of events. In addition, the centre includes multiple meeting rooms, a 150-seater conference hall, VIP lounges, four green rooms, art galleries, and a service block, supported by advanced sound, lighting, and projection systems. A dedicated basement parking area for 120 cars, barrier-free access for persons with disabilities, and a fully air-conditioned, centrally controlled building management system ensure convenience and inclusivity.
What makes Rudraksh stand apart is not just its modern functionality but also its sustainability and cultural integration. It has been constructed as a Level 3 GRIHA-rated green building, incorporating solar energy, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, and eco-friendly materials. Inside, the interiors display murals and artworks reflecting the city’s cultural ethos, offering visitors an immersive experience of Varanasi’s timeless heritage. The landscaped premises also include Japanese-style gardens, further highlighting the collaboration between Indian tradition and Japanese minimalism.
Since its inauguration, Rudraksh has hosted a range of events including government summits, international delegations, cultural programs, and academic conferences, enhancing Varanasi’s status as not only a spiritual and cultural capital but also as a rising global hub for conferences and cooperation. It is envisioned as a venue that will attract international events, promote tourism, strengthen diplomatic and cultural exchanges, and stimulate the local economy through hospitality, transport, and allied sectors.
In essence, the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre is much more than a convention hall—it is a cultural landmark, a symbol of friendship, and a driver of modern tourism in Varanasi, seamlessly integrating the sacred heritage of the world’s oldest living city with the demands of contemporary global engagement.
