के बारे में
The Shri Digambar Jain Temple at Sarnath, also known as the Shreyanshnath Temple, is one of the most significant Jain pilgrimage sites near Varanasi. Built in 1824, this temple commemorates the birthplace of Lord Shreyanshnath, the 11th Jain Tirthankara. Its historical and spiritual value makes it a key destination for Digambar Jains from across the country.
The temple is constructed in traditional Jain architectural style, with intricate carvings and a peaceful sanctum housing the idol of Lord Shreyanshnath. Its setting in Sarnath—renowned as the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon—adds to its spiritual aura, reflecting the coexistence of multiple religious traditions in the region.
Every year, devotees gather here to celebrate festivals and special rituals dedicated to Lord Shreyanshnath. The temple serves not only as a place of worship but also as a reminder of the rich Jain heritage interwoven with the cultural fabric of Varanasi and Sarnath.
