श्री गुरु नानक देव जी गुरुद्वारा के बारे में
Early in the 16th century, on Shivratri of 1507, Guru Nanak Dev Ji arrived in Varanasi. He paused in a shady garden—known locally as Guru Ka Bagh—where he engaged Brahmin scholars in rofound conversation about devotion and humility.
Legend recounts how Pandit Chatur Das, impressed by Guru Nanak’s teachings became a newfound disciple. Their dialogue showed that sacred symbols and rituals find real value when rooted in Nam Simran or holy remembrance and seva or selfless service.
Though the original garden no longer exists, the site now hosts a white-marble sannidhi built in the early 1970s—on November 23, 1969, during Guru Nanak’s 500th birth anniversary. The Gurdwara’s long hall and arched verandas echo daily with kirtan, Paath, and communal langar, open to everyone—an enduring testament to Sikh principles of equality and service.
Pilgrims gather especially during Gurpurab or Guru Nanak Jayanti in November. The day begins before dawn with Asa Di Vaar, followed by hymn singing and continuous langar serving—all reflecting the spirit of unity and humility taught here. In a city renowned for its rituals, Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh stands apart—not for its architecture but for its message: that wisdom lies not in outward symbols, but in simple speech, shared food, and the echo of a divine name in the heart.
